For the last 60 years or so, Bob Dylan has been an amazing and prolific creator of words and music that will likely go on forever - a storyteller, a composer, a poet. Some of his songs from yesterday fit well into today's state of affairs.
Many other musicians have taken the challenge of interpreting his language, and you can hear some of them in this program. Tune in and hear how Linda Ronstadt, Richie Havens, George Harrison, Odetta, Eliza Gilkyson and others handled Dylan compositions. My instinct was to lead off with Jimi Hendrix and All Along the Watchtower, my favorite Dylan cover, but I couldn't hear it as folk music. Also, I couldn't stop from including a couple of cuts from the man himself. And there are a few songs written by other artists in this lively 90-minute folk program. But the highlights are all about Dylan's imagination in the hands of others.
You can hear folk music every Monday - Friday morning from 5:30 till 7:00 on KBOO.
