Patricia Kullberg hosts this episode of the Old Mole, which includes the following segments:

Saving the Planet: With climate change denial a dead letter, with many countries now deeply injured and a great majority of the world’s population concerned and seeking action, two programs have emerged to solve the crisis, one from the left, the other from Capital. Bill Resnick interviews Brian Tokar to compare the plans. The left’s program is more feasible, economical, reliable, and can be built out and operating within the ten years that science now finds necessary. Indeed it's the only path to save a human-habitable planet. Tokar is an activist, author, and a lecturer in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont.  He is the author of The Green AlternativeEarth for Sale, and Toward Climate Justice.

The Erotic: Selections from Audre Lorde's 1978 essay "Uses of the Erotic: the Erotic as Power," available in her 1984 collection Sister Outsider, read by Frann Michel.

African Film Fest: From February 3rd through March 4th, the Cascade Festival of African Films brings its annual feast of films to Portland. The festival offers a window into the richly diverse regions and countries of Africa through the eyes of African filmmakers.  This week, Jan Haaken talks with Belgian-Congolese Director Nganji Mutiri about his feature film, JUWAA, which screens at the Hollywood Theatre on Friday February 17th. The film centers on a night of political violence in Congo that profoundly shapes a mother-son relationship and their efforts to understand one another a decade later. Jan talks with Ngani Mutiri about his experiences and the aesthetics that shaped this profoundly moving film. He will be at the Hollywood Theatre for a Q and A after the screening.
