As Black History Month slowly comes to a close, we'll honor Black musicians and their contributions to folk music
Join Diane Hunt on Monday, February 27, as Folk Espresso features Black musicians. We'll hear an early recording from Bessie Jones to a song from Sunny War that just released on February 3rd. There'll be a bit of music from Senegal and from singer-songwriters from all across the US. Some of the "greats" will grace the show--like Guy Davis and Richie Havens--but there is plenty of room for the lesser-known but rising stars of the folk music scene. It's all happening here on KBOO as part of the All Thrills No Frills Volume II special programming fundraiser. How lucky we are to have KBOO....and these musicians who give us their unique voices in song!
