On today's episode, we celebrate the launch of the new anthology Soul Jar: Thirty-One Fantastical Tales by Disabled Authors, from Forest Avenue Press. Our guests are the collection’s editor, Annie Carl, and two of those 31 contributors – Ellis Bray and Simon Quinn.
The 31 tales in Soul Jar feature pickpockets turned crime fighters, apocalyptic viruses, vengeful books, dragons, Sorrow Stealers, necromancers, spellcasters, diabetic zombie fighters, alien detectives, shapeshifting therapists, ghosts, imaginary friends, geyser pterosaurs, frozen ponds that swallow children, and demons raised from cereal box toys.
In the words of author Violet Lumani, “Soul Jar is a fantastical bullhorn for voices that so often go unheard… Vibrant characters come alive, navigating a range of experiences and emotions, while simultaneously illuminating the impact representation in literature can have. The stories in this extraordinary anthology will pull you in, show you a vastly under-explored area of the literary world, and leave you wanting more.”
