Film Maker, Producer, Scriptwriter, Producer and Professor, Jack Perez is living now in Portland and he lived thirty years in Los Angeles. He went to Film school at NYU in New York City, his hometown. Currently, he teaches filmmaking at Clackamas Community College and Portland Community College.  This show is about the relationship between filmmaking and autobiography. He spoke about a few of his movies, such as The Big Empty from 1997, and La Cucaracha from 1998.  The incorporation of personal biography into his movies.  Jack told us about his experience as a scriptwriter. Consuelo remembered Scott Fitzgerald and how hard was for him to adapt a novel to one script.

Also, Consuelo mentioned the Swedish director Ingmar Bergman. His film "Fanny & Alexander" is taken from his biography. Bergman wrote an autobiography called "The Magic Lantern". Then, they spoke about "Amarcord" (which means " I remember", directed by Federico Fellini).  His autobiography, "Amarcord" turns over memories from Fellini's past.  Jack spoke about the influence of other directors and filmmaking on younger directors. Such as the case between Hitchcock and Francois Truffaut.

Consuelo asked Jack for a bit of advice for younger students of filmmaking. Jack encourages them to watch as much as film they can. He again named Alfred Hitchcock. He said,  "Even if you see a weekly film of his is worthwhile". Several directors were mentioned such as Allmann, David Samuel Peckinpah, Scorsese, and Linh.
