Join us for an inspiring conversation with Cayla McGrail (they/them), President of the Oregon Queer History Collective. Cayla will share their work preserving and uplifting the rich and often overlooked history of queer and trans communities in Oregon. We'll talk about community archiving, intergenerational storytelling, and why queer history is essential to our collective liberation.
Oregon Queer History Collective (OQHC), formerly known as the Gay and Lesbian Archives of the Pacific Northwest (GLAPN), is the oldest historical society in Oregon dedicated to collecting, preserving, and sharing LGBTQIA2S+ history.
Cayla McGrail is the President of the OQHC. She also served as the Associate Project Manager of the City of Portland's LGBTQ+ Historic Sites Project between 2022 and 2024, a graduate of the University of Oregon's Historic Preservation program, specializing in queer preservation. Her work focuses on documenting, designating, and preserving LGBTQ+ historic sites, highlighting queer experiences, and advocating for a more inclusive preservation movement.
