A journey through classic and contemporary recordings, The World of Jazz traces the living conversation of the music, connecting legends, local Portland artists, and genre-crossing voices to show how jazz continually renews itself across time and place.
Join Andy O’Hara on "The World of Jazz" show for an afternoon exploring the innovative spirit of jazz. After a high-energy first set featuring Joshua Redman and The Bad Plus, Cymande, and Billy Cobham, we’ll preview the 2026 Biamp Portland Jazz Festival from March 5–14. Listeners will hear selections from a variety of artists performing at the festival—from headliners St. Vincent and Mavis Staples to MonoNeon, Mitchum Yacoub, Tigran Hamasyan, and Jungle Fire - as well as the background stories and concert schedules to fully immerse yourself in Portland's premier jazz event.
