Norm Diamond talks with members of the local IWW branch about the Lawrence Strike of 1912
Norm and Abigail talk with Marie and Larry of the Portland Branch of the Industr ial Workers of the World (IWW) about the Lawrence Textile strike, the significance of the IWW in the strike and the long-term significance of the strike for the IWW. They consider the irony of American Federation of Labor-Congress of Industrial Organizations president, Richard Trumka, delivering the keynote speech of the Lawrence Strike symposium we heard about earlier, but without once mentioning the IWW or the AFL's role in creating the conditions for the strike. Marie points out that workplaces are still places of domination, exploitation and alienation for women and migrants around the world.
