The fight to save 100 mature trees along the Bridgeton levee in north Portland got a needed boost today from the U-S Army Corps of Engineers.The Corps is currently reviewing its levee vegetation policy and plans to issue the revised standards as part of a National Levee Vegetation Roundtable to be held in early 2008.The Bridgeton Neighborhood Association’s and Columbia Riverkeeper have been fighting for months to preserve the hundred trees, which were scheduled to be cut due to a directive from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.KBOO spoke with Brent Foster, the director of the Columbia Riverkeeper, about this issue:
