Saxophonist Dick Oatts and arranger/conductor Rich DeRosa of the WDR big band of Germany have joined Garry is choosing 9 such tunes which have been arranged in their style.
40 years ago, Garry Dial was hired by Duke's sister Ruth to record Duke's Tempo Music catalog for the Ellington family archive.
Garry played the material on Duke's white piano, with his painting of Satin Doll on the wall.
With the blessing of Mercedes Ellington and Duke's nephew Steve James, this CD releases this rare and unheard material to the public for the first time.
