This week, we'll speak with author Cristina Beltran, associate professor at New York University's Department of Social and Cultural Analysis. She is author of The Trouble with Unity: Latino Politics and the Creation of Identity, and she'll join us to discuss her latest book, Cruelty as Citizenship: How Migrant Suffering Sustains White Democracy. Then, we'll turn to Mark Rank, a Professor of Social Welfare at Washington University in St. Louis who is an expert on issues of inequality, poverty, and social justice. He'll tell us about his newest book, co-authored with Lawrence Eppard, and Heather Bullock called Poorly Understood: What America Gets Wrong About Poverty.
