World Arts Foundation Inc. announces the annual tribute to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Since 1976, this community event has celebrated Oregon’s African-American community. The event honors pioneering activists, community leaders, artists, musicians, and youth whose valiant efforts have left lasting impacts in Oregon’s African-American community. This family-friendly event is taking place Monday, January 16th 2023 from 1-4pm at Highland Christian Center (7600 NE Glisan St. Portland, OR 97213). On stage, the program will feature performances and speakers including DaNell Daymon & Greater Works, Senator Margaret Carter, Alonzo Chadwick, and Arietta Ward. Lifetime achievement awards will be presented to Dr. Shon Neyland, Lakayana Drury, Candace Avalos, David Ferguson, and Dr. Steven Holt.
Additionally, the event’s Victory Village marketplace houses vendors, regional agencies, and artists. Masking is required for entry. Admission is free with a suggested donation of $5 or 5 cans of non-perishable food items.
