Interview with Brian Smith

Grief expert Brian Smith's life journey has given him a unique perspective on human experience, with an appreciation for both the joys and the sorrows he has encountered along the way. He has a varied religious and spiritual background, growing up in a Pentecostal religious tradition, and later becoming part of an evangelical community. After that, Brian became a Christian Universalist, and even studied Buddhism and various mystical traditions. As a young man, he was deeply scarred by toxic religion, which, among other things, instilled in him an intense fear of death… a fear that his lifelong spiritual quest has now relieved.

As a result of Brian’s personal experiences with loss, he immersed himself in researching concepts of the afterlife, taking a scientific as well as a spiritual and philosophical approach to it. As Brian describes it in his own words, “I needed to know, not just believe. It’s this experience that I now share with my audiences and the readers of my book, Grief 2 Growth; Planted. Not Buried.” Brian is also the host of the popular Grief2Growth podcast.
