Portland Youth Philharmonic, America’s longest running youth orchestra, closes its 101st season this Sunday, May 4th at Portland’s Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall. The program, titled “The Search for Beauty”, includes Robert Schumann’s Manfred Overture, Valerie Coleman’s Tracing Visions, Ruth Gipps Symphony No. 2, Dmitri Shostakovich's Piano Concerto No. 2, and, to top off the season, Yoda’s Theme by John Williams.
To preview Sunday’s concert, we’re joined today by David Hattner, PYP’s Musical Director, along with Hansen Berrett, the soloist on Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto.
