A top artist in both pop and country music fields, velvet voiced Jim Reeves refered to his singing style as a "happy medium" between the two. Born in Texas in 1924 Jim was given his first professional job at the age of ten singing with the staff band at KMRD in Shreveport, Louisiana. Jim initially pursued a career as a professional baseball player and was signed by  the St. Louis Cardinals before a back injury forced him to give up athletic career.  He turned his attention back to music eventually landing a regular spot on The Louisiana Hayride and The Grand Ole Opry. Best selling records such as Blue Boy, I'm Getting Better and the million seller He'll Have To Go completed his emergence as a star and Jim played to sold out audiences in North America, Europe and South Africa before his untimely death at the age of forty in 1964.
